Allison Island
This building was designed by renowned architect Allison Spear as two interconnected structures, providing corner exposures, cross ventilation, and captivating views in almost every apartment. Serving as the centerpiece of Spear's design, a sculptural covered driveway frames the magnificent entrance and extends along the lobby's axis, connecting its front to a veranda that overlooks the water. Each building was meticulously crafted to optimize views, minimize scale, and create a striking contrast to the towering structures that now define South Beach.
In order to capture the true essence of the city's rich history and highlight its vibrant scenery, we took inspiration from Miami's pastel colors that evoke memories of its charming old town. Additionally, we incorporated the owner's personal collection of vintage guitars and their passion for mid-century pieces. The overall design is light and airy, with a mix of playful elements and timeless classics such as the iconic Arco Floor Lamp by Achille Castiglioni & Pier Giacomo and the timeless Nelson Platform Bench.

Coconut Grove
This apartment was purchased by my clients as an investment property for use on Airbnb. The layout of the unit allows for multiple rental options, including two separate 1-bedroom/1-bathroom units, a 2-bedroom/2-bathroom unit, or a 1-bedroom/2-bathroom unit with a living area. However, it needed to be modernized and optimized to maximize rental income.
On the smaller side, there was a spacious walk-in closet and another closet that could accommodate a washer and dryer. To make better use of the space, we decided to downsize slightly while still keeping a walk-in closet and enlarging the washer and dryer closet. This change allowed us to include essential appliances like a refrigerator, microwave, espresso machine, toaster, and ice maker within the limited but now bigger space. To further optimize the area in the lower cabinet, we installed an all-in-one washing and drying machine unit. As a result, this unit can now be listed on Airbnb as having its own kitchenette.
In the larger unit, we removed the cupboards above the kitchen area and replaced them with open shelves to create an illusion of more space. Additionally, we upgraded the existing two-tier granite countertop by replacing it with a seamless porcelain slab, and high chairs were placed, eliminating the necessity for a separate table. We also replaced the three types of flooring with hardwood throughout both units, ensuring a cohesive look. Furthermore, both bathrooms have been updated with new vanities, paint, light fixtures, and wallpaper. With its breathtaking views, the decor is kept neutral so as not to detract from what truly matters: the beauty of the sea and mature trees.
